In 2020, during the pandemic (during which time it could be hard to find toilet paper in the stores), a friend from the UK shared this information, which was new to me: ====== Toilet paper is not an essential! After going number 2, if you don't have a bidet, wet your hand and soap it thoroughly, perch yourself rearwards on the edge of the bathtub near the faucet spout (making sure you're secure), and run the tub faucet full blast with warm water. Then use your hand to scoop water, using your fingers to rub and clean your crack thoroughly. Afterwards, obviously wash your hands carefully with soap in clean water. Your rear end will be much cleaner (and better-smelling) than if you had used toilet paper--and you will also have saved money.
